Ryan knew that he had an interest in finance ever since completing an elementary school project in which he researched Nike and traced the company’s performance for an entire year. “To this day, I can tell you everything there is to know about Nike!” he says.
With his gift for numbers and natural curiosity about how things work, Ryan decided to major in Information Systems at Georgia Southern University. His graduation in 2001 coincided with the tech bubble bursting, which made finding a job in IT considerably more challenging for a new college grad. After spending some time evaluating his options, Ryan considered looking into finance. “Math has always come easily to me, and I wanted to pursue a field where I could apply it.”
Looking back, Ryan is relieved that he made a good career decision. Today Ryan applies his quantitative and qualitative skills to providing investment, insurance and retirement strategies to his clients. An area of focus within Ryan’s practice is helping dental and medical professionals with their retirement planning needs.
Ryan gives back to his professional and personal community in a variety of ways: he fundraises for the DDD Foundation, a local initiative that brings dentistry services to special needs children, and he volunteers with Special Olympics. Ryan is also a member of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), and he sits on the Marketing and Social Media committee of the MassMutual Agents’ Association (AAX). Last but not least, Ryan enjoys donating time to his children’s baseball and soccer leagues.
When he is not at work, Ryan tries to spend as much time as he can with his family. There too, he dispenses financial guidance! As a parent to three young children, he is well aware of the need to educate his children on the value of saving and has devised creative ways to cultivate good habits early on.
Ryan and his wife, Gena, reside in the Atlanta suburbs with their children. They are involved in their local congregation, Mary Our Queen, in Peachtree Corners.
