Focus: Insurance Strategies, Investment Strategies
It’s said that over the course of one’s life, it’s important to be both a protégé and a mentor—advice that holds true for Christopher DiStefano, CFP®.
Inspired by an uncle who was a successful businessman and do-it-yourself investor, Christopher was attracted to all things financial while growing up. He became an avid reader of books on investing and dreamt of becoming a
fund manager. Christopher graduated Bentley College in 1995 with a degree in accounting.
Immediately upon graduating, he entered the financial services industry.
Presented with the opportunity to launch his own practice, Christopher wasted no time. He studied for and obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner (CFP®) designation and dedicated his time and energy to buildinga practice that had a strong educational component at its core. DiStefano Financial Group was born in 2003, and has been serving clients in the Pioneer Valley with retirement planning strategies since its inception.
Taking his clients through the process of planning for their financial future gives Christopher a
chance to give back in many ways. Now, he plays the role of mentor, guide and coach. Over the years, through his Retirement Planning Today seminars, Christopher has taught over a thousand
local pre-‐retirees the basics of planning every aspect of their financial life—from investments to retirement income strategies, college planning and long term care planning, and everything in between.
“Education takes a lot of the anxiety out of planning forthe future,” Christopher says of his seminars. “When people understand their personal finances, they are better able to make informed and unemotional decisions.”
Employers concur. Faced with media hype and around the clock news coverage employees are confused about the choices they face, and many employers do not always have the resident
knowledge to offer support and guidance employees seek. Increasingly, Christopher finds himself delivering his Retirement Planning Today seminars to businesses in the area. Employers find the
seminars a cost effective way to enhance the benefit package they offer, and employees find value in the content and unbiased delivery of the materials.
Christopher resides in Longmeadow, Massachusetts with his family. He and his wife Kristen are strong supporters of charitable causes that help children.
